Maybe so, but imagine all the work that goes into the preparation for your special event. First of all, draft horses eat quite a bit of hay, and that isn't cheap. They also need special shoes so they can walk on pavement (every six weeks). Giving a draft horse a bath is like washing a fifth-wheel camper and whitening their feathers is very time consuming. By the time the horse and carriage show up at your event, at least four to five hours of preperation has already taken place. Our labor of love does take time and energy but it is so worth it to us, and we are sure you will agree, worth it to you! We love every aspect of our life with our horses, and we hope we have the opportunty to share it with you.
Twenty years down the road, I'm sure your special someone won't have a clue as to what it cost, but the uniqueness of your horse drawn event will provide a legendary family story for years to come.
We offer two types of rate plans; formal and informal. The formal plan rate schedule would be used for formal events such as weddings, quinceaneras, engagements, and parades. The formal plan involves a fully groomed horse, complete with mane roll, braided tail, mane flowers, whitened feathers and shaved whiskers. The coachman (and Basset if requested) will also be in formal attire, complete with top hat and tux jacket. The carriage will be decorated appropriately for the event.
The informal rate plan would be used for less-formal events like tours, parties, caroling, holiday celebrations, etc. the horse will be clean and groomed, but not in the formal manner listed above. The coachman will dress according to the theme of the event.
Formal Rate Schedule $700 for the first two hours (minimum two-hours required) $200 for each additional hour
Informal Rate Schedule $325 for the first hour (minimum fee) $175 for each additional hour
Our horses are well trained and hard-working - but they still get tired. We require 15 minutes rest for feed and water for every two-hours of work.
The above rates apply to events within a 30 mile radius of Lemoore. For each additional mile of travel over 30, we will add $10 to the total. E.G. if your event was 75 miles from NAS Lemoore, your additional fee would be $450 (that's 75 miles - 30 miles (included) = 45 miles x $10/mile = $450).
