What type of events do you do?

Pretty much anything you can imagine! As long as we have a parking spot for our trailer and don't have to travel on any roads with speed limits greater than 35 mph, we are in there. We can do weddings, parades, engagements, quinceaneras, sweet 16 parties, birthdays, caroling, and even over the hill celebrations. Want to have a romantic evening with your sweetie? Call us - we'll hook you up.

How much does it cost to hire you?

Check out our rates page for our price list. If you have a special event that we didn't think of, call us and we'll negotiate.

How many horses do you have?

We currently have three "veterans" and one under training. Our primary carriage horse, Star, is a 4-year old Shire gelding and is beautiful and experienced. He is white with flowing forelocks, mane & tail. Bailey is a seven-year old Shire mare with tons of experience pulling the trolley on Main Street USA in Disneyland. Our third horse, Morgan, is a Belgian gelding and has the most experience, although he is retired to light duty after years on the show circuit. Duke is a three-year old Shire gelding who is just learning the ropes. He should be ready for action in late 2011. We are currently training the two Shire geldings to pull as a team so that you can hire both at the same time, if desired.

What's up with the Basset Hounds?

The Tally-Ho Bassets are just along for the ride. You can select any of them to ride along with the Coachman and they will hang out for moral support. They will even dress up for formal occasions. The Bassets are full of personality and are sure to attract a lot of attention. Be careful though, once you get to know them, you will want one of your own. See the bio's for Snoops, Bogey, Droopy and Argo for more information.

How far will you travel for an event?

The farther we have to travel, the more we charge. It's not because we are greedy or don't like road trips, it just that its very expensive in gas to haul that big trailer around. Plus, for every 25 miles further we have to travel, it adds an hour to hour time requirement. Our prices are based on events located within a 45 mile radius of Lemoore. For each additional mile of travel, we add $10 to the base price. Depending on the type of event, we may travel up to 100 miles, but we will likely not go much further than that - it's too hard on the horses.

Are you insured?

Yes - we carry a million dollar liability policy provided through Cheval Insurance Company.

Have you ever had an accident?

Plenty of them - it comes with the territory. Fortunately, they have all been in the training arena where they belong. When we train our horses to drive, there is a normal learning curve where the animal must be pushed and leaps of faith made. Sometimes they work out, sometimes they don't. Our horses go through hundreds of hours in the arena and on the forecart before they ever even see the carriage. By the time we hitch them to the carriage, they are pros and have gained Sonya's total confidence. We don't ever put an animal on a cart or carriage unless we are 100% sure that they will perform flawlessly.

Do you offer any other horse-drawn vehicles other than the vis-a-vis carriage?

Not at this time, but we are looking to expand our lot. We have purchased a Governess' Cart which is currently being restored, but that will likely take a few years. We are also looking at the possibility of purchasing a large people mover that we can use for hay rides and the like, but we aren't quite there yet.

Do you provide music and flowers for formal events?

Everything is negotiable. We want to make your event as memorable as possible and will do what we can to help out. We get just as excited as you do about surprises and love being a part of the planning process. Sonya has even been known to shed a few tears at happy events. As far as music, we have a CD/MP3 player on the cart and we can customize the music we play if you like. Flowers aren't included in the price but we can hook you up if you buy them. We do have a "Just Married" sign for the back of the carriage just in case you want one.

How far in advance do I have to pay?

We usually ask for 1/2 of the fee at the contract signing. That locks in the dates and ensures you will not get aced out of the time that you want. The remaining balance is due anytime prior to the day of the event. We take cash and checks, but are not currently equipped to take credit cards.

Where are you located?

We are based out of Naval Air Station Lemoore, California. Our horses are stabled at the Lexington Park Equestrian Center onboard NAS Lemoore and we keep the carriage in our garage at home.

What is the difference between a formal and an informal event?

A formal event is a special occasion that involves a fully groomed horse, complete with mane roll, braided tail, mane flowers, whitened feathers and shaved whiskers. The coachman (and Basset if requested) will also be in formal attire, complete with top hat and tux jacket. The carriage will be decorated appropriately for this type of event. An informal event is usually more low key and doesn't require the level of preparation that a formal event does. Parties and tours would be examples of informal events.

How long can we hire you for?

Three hours is the maximum time we will work a horse, so it is the maximum time we are for hire per day.
